Accident In Teignmouth Drive

Emma Thomas from the Echo has a very prompt report on its website about the road accident near the junction with Downhall Road, Rayleigh today. Traffic cones were still in Teignmouth Drive tonight.

An elderly woman is in hospital after she was knocked down by a car.

At 12.30pm today, emergency services were called to Teignmouth Drive at the junction with Down Hall Way, Rayleigh, after the 76-year-old woman in was knocked down by a black Kia Rio .

East of England Ambulance service sent a rapid response car and an ambulance to the scene. The woman was taken to Southend Hospital suffering from head injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

The car driver, a 26-year-old local woman, was uninjured but was treated at the scene by paramedics for shock.

A section of the road was closed for approximately five hours while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
