Darkness In Dawlish Crescent
Bruce, Chris and Ron are all getting phone calls about the streetlight failures in Teignmouth Drive (3 lights out), Dawlish Crescent (all five lights out), Brixham Close (all 3 lights out) and Downhall Road (1 light out ). A whole area is plunged into darkness.
Ron actually reported this via FixMyStreet on Jan 30th. All the lights are County Council streetlights, and on Feb 1st the County Council passed the report on to the UK Power Network , who are responsible for electrical repairs. The UK Power Network visited on Feb 1st and apparently fixed some lights (presumably more than these 12 were originally out).
According to the County Council, the UK Power Network are allowed 20 days from Feb 1st to fix the problem. We are chasing the situation ourselves to try and get it sorted out as soon as possible.
While a 20 days time limit seems too long, this is actually better than things used to be. When the main electricity company was responsible for streetlight repairs sometimes they would take months, giving lights a bottom priority behind commercial and residential properties.
PS for anyone interested the light numbers are Downhall Road 29, Teignmouth Drive 1,2,3 Dawlish Crescent 1,2,3,4,5 and Brixham Close 1,2,3
