Massive pothole at junction of slip into rawreth lane
I don’t see anyupdates about getting the graffiti cleaned off…Bruce, do you have any news about the bus shelters in Downhall Road ?
It was reported three weeks ago. Chris has been in touch with those who have this responsibility and hopefully will post the outcome later. But when you consider the time the mess has been on the wall at the top of Crown Hill three weeks is not long. About 6 years aga there was grafitti in Down Hall Prk Road and it was removed the day after I reported it.
I am expecting a phone call from the District Council
Fed up with reporting the massive elongated potholes in Rawreth Lane. Put on Fix My street three times and have had two episodes of damage to my car resulting from them. Last time was told by local garage that the coil spring damage to cars has been increasing due to local potholes. All in all I have spent over £400 as a result.
CCR: You can also report potholes to the ECC Highways here: http://www.essex.gov.uk/Pages/Report-It.aspx
I did this for a pothole on the junction of Rawreth lane with Priory Chase and it seemed to be fixed very quickly. Perhaps others had mentioned it too! I haven’t had any success with Fix My Street.
There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. One of my colleagues has tried the ECC system without much success, you normally get a confirmation that the pothole has been inspected, and then a set of possible reasons why no further action is being taken (without specifying which reason it is!) Mark, if you are getting yours fixed then maybe you should stand for County Council (and I’m not joking)
Mark: If it was actually in Priory Chase maybe it would be better to keep that road private as things will not get done quickly after it is adopted by ECC.
I do not know whether it is true but we have been told by a friend that ECC will not repair a pothole unless it is at least 2″ deep! There are quite a few that appear a lot deeper and still do not get any attention. Unfortunately this is a problem all over the country.
And strangely emough three potholes that appeared in Downhall Road around the time of the last snow were very quickly repaired within a matter of days!
In Devon, where large parts of the rural road network are crumbling, they send a couple of men out to install a bumpy road sign – apparently it’s cheaper.
An officer from the District Council phoned me back today.
Regarding the bus shelters in Downhall Road, she had now had a look at them. Hopefully the graffiti will be removed soon.
Regarding the grafitti on the hoardings around the abandoned buildings near the railway bridge, this is more difficult to deal with because it is a private site. However we may be able to take action on it as an ‘untidy site’
