Most of us connected with onlineFOCUS are fond of Italian cooking. So we are looking forward to the Italian Food Market that Rayleigh Town Council are bringing to the High Street on March 1st!

  • We’ve had them in St Neots – very good! Lovely cheese, salami, pancetta, olives, and nougat-type stuff … and bread, pasta, olive oil … Mmmm …

  • I went to this today, enjoyed a sausage and pepper roll and bought some goodies to take home.It looks like it was very successful. Well done Rayleigh Town Council for organiseing this.

  • Well after all the big build up arranged to meet friends to sample the market. To say we were underwelmed would be an exaggeration. A handful of scruffy stalls selling stuff I could buy in any supermarket. The only queue was for the bloke selling sausage rolls.
What a complete let down and we were not the only ones who felt that way. All in all very poor.

  • Bread was completely sold out by 11am when I got there. No lovely cakes or anything such as were shown in the photos, cheese looked OK, but was very expensive so I didn’t bother. I agree Oz, somewhat underwhelming. I was looking forward to some fresh made pizza, pasta sauces, stuff I can’t get in the Supermarket. Yes it was busy, a lot of people had come out to look at it, which probably made it a good morning for the rest of the High St. but if this is to be repeated it does need a bit more flair.
