OnlineFOCUS readers may be interested in a newish website called “Essex Eye”. It has local crime news and crime prevention advice. It’s not altogether clear who’s writing it. The site conveniently collects together information that’s been published elsewhere.
There is almost too much crime data to look at , including links to monthly crime figures for each council ward!
On a very serious note, I do not know how many people were aware of this ( I wasn’t ) but what ever is going on in this town.

Very very nasty and very serious. No obvious motive either.
I just hope its an isolated event (in the same way that the shooting at Rayleigh Station a few years ago was an isolated event)
The shooting at the station had an obvious motive though, robbery of the people filling the cash point machine. Nasty though it was (the young man who intervened was lucky to get out of it alive), it was an armed robbery, something we read about fairly often in the papers. This acid attack though seems to have no motive, and really attacking someone with acid is often a very personal act against the victim for some perceived reason that no-one else may even fully understand. If it was just a random act of violence for the “fun” of it I hope they catch the perpetrator(s) soon before they decide to do it again.
