Rawreth Parish Council have received the following advice today:

Having spoken to the engineers at the bridge today (Wed)? they hope to open the road later today at rush hour provided the re-surfacing is finished and the signs for ‘lack of road markings’ are available.
In any case, it should be open tomorrow for the next fortnight during morning and evening rush hours, ie: shut during the day between 0930 and 1630 hours whilst they continue to finish the job.
However, we are seeing conflicting rumours on Facebook, so we are not 100% sure about this!

  • According to the Echo the work is necessary to bring the bring up to European standards so that it’s safe for 44 tonne vehicles. How many 44 tonne lorries actually use Watery Lane ?
Still maybe we might see Euro Claggy’s election bus down there on his way to Spain next year. ( put in just for you Jim ???? )

  • Nice one Oz , glad you can take it as well as dish it out ???? ( not many can ) – by the way I did ( when I was still working ) a survey on that bridge some 5 years ago , that is how long stuff takes to do these days ( I guess that’s progress for you!!!!! ).

  • There are two sites beyond the bridge that generate the need for HGVs .The Mousery and Highlands Farm Corn Store . They used to use Watery Lane which is hardly suitable .The weight limit is to be moved to Hanover bridge in Watery Alane to prevent HGVs using the route as a short cut .

  • So all construction traffic has to enter Hullbridge via Rawreth Lane and the already congested Hambro Parade roundabout.
Another route to Hullbridge is needed before any new houses. If this makes building the houses impossible not many locals will complain.
