Rochford District Council is changing it?s bank account details from 17th November 2014. If you pay Council Tax, Business Rates or Housing Benefit invoices by Standing Order you will need to let your bank know their new bank details. They are:

UPDATED 14th November : we have been contacted by the revenues and benefits dept of RDC:
“Unfortunately the original message on RDC’s website did not state that we have actually contacted people direct if they are affected by the change in our account details from 17th November. This has now been corrected…. In view of the comments made against the original message, would it be possible for you to post an update in order to clarify the situation….”
WHY ?, surely they have to notify by when etc;……….let’s see how good their “consultation” is this time……..
I am really surprised that residents are being fixed with the responsibility for this change without individual notification with presumably the risk of non receipt at Lloyds leading to apparent non payment of Council Tax with repercussions for residents. When I was in banking the “old” recipient bank of mass payments took responsibility to re-direct payments. But are most people on DD? If that is the case then the re-direct of SO’s would not be too onerous or expensive for the banks or the Council using automation systems !!??

Maybe , without notification ( and there is no timing mentioned as yet ) we should all just ” “not know about this ” and see how quick they react to a mass non payment scenario!!!!.

I telephoned RDC this morning to see if there was any other information I should know about and the person I spoke to did not know anything about the new bank details and inferred that I was being stupid. When I told her that I had read about it on OnLine Focus she said that she would have to check. When she came back on the line her attitude was completely different and, although she did not apologise, she did confirm that they would be changing as from the 17th Nov., but gave no other information.
Well done RDC, it is nice to know that my council tax is being put to ‘such’ good use.
