We’re fairly busy at Onlinefocus Towers at the moment, studying planning documents and whatnot. So there’s less time to write.

But if you are in the mood for some serious reading, have a look here. It has information about the Rochford District Development Management Plan – basically the set of policies that guide councillors when deciding whether to approve or refuse planning applicatiosn. You can download it here. (Warning – 107 pages long)

  • Recent front page issues the failing NHS and School place overloading/ shortfall – might be making the point about the wider impact of the push for housing accross
SE ESSEX , are we getting extra schools / hospitals to cover the 10’s of thousands of extra demand..

  • Just read the Focus and one question for you – why are you wasting time with trying to get lighting restored on a street where they have NEVER been turned off? Priory Chase is a private road, and as such the lighting remit does not fall under ECC. The lights (unfortunately) are still on.

Please also justify why we would need the lights on past midnight anyhow? The school, ASDA and the leisure centre are all shut and there has been no unsociable behaviour since 2013.

It should be remembered that there is no legislation that forces any authority to light our streets.

  • Cjav- I’m sitting here red-faced. Sorry that’s my proof-reading error for the leaflet (I cut and pasted our original list of locations from a while back).

Of course you are right, the lights are still on because the road hasn’t been adopted and I take the point about no anti-social behaviour.

I have advised Jo McPherson, the District Councillor who’s set up a working party on this, that although Priory Chase was on our original list the anti-social behaviour situation has changed , though ironically the lights are on anyway until the road is adopted.
