Some New Stuff Reported On FixMyStreet

There’s been quite a few new entries on the FixMyStreet website, some people are clearly finding it useful…

Today : Barling – Flytipping near Mucking Hall Road

Today : Rayleigh In Eastwood Road: “Top surface of foot path completely gone in many areas, thus making it dangerous for elderly people, several people have tripped-up.”

Yesterday: Hockley : In Hawkwell Road “There has been a serious pothole in the centre of the road for many months. It is necessary to divert or damage your car.”

Sunday: Hawkwell – Collapsed drain cover in Larkfield Close

    Ron Oatham:

I reported potholes in Teignmouth Drive and Brixham Close more than 27 weeks ago.
Next day a man appeared with spray can and outlined them in orange.
Since then –NOTHING– Potholes getting deeper, paint fading!!

    Deanne Hooper:

Does anyone know what the road works are for at the lower end of hambro hill? The traffic lights are a real pain and despite passing by at least twice a day for the last week I have yet to see anyone working on them. Has anyone else seen anything?

    Sean:

Was he outlining them in orange so as to allow maintainence workers to easily identify where the potholes were or as a health and safety measure to allow member of the public to see where they were and avoid them?

    ST1:

I reported the poor pavement condition on the cut-through between Downhall Park Way and Bristol Close at the beginning of the year. Nothing has been done and my report has been removed from the Fixmystreet website.

This area of pavement was also subject of the red high-lighter paint a year before my submission to Fixmystreet, which would suggest that the council were aware of the problem at the beginning of 2009.

Maybe I will resubmit the complaint on Fixmystreet, that way it should make it easier for people to take legal action against the council if there is a record of people requesting the repair.

    Mike Nobes:

Seems like no one from the council is following through with any of these comments, wonder if anyone from RDC can give the residents a reason for this. I am told that plenty of RDC Councillors read onlinefocus so maybe one of these Councillors can enlighten the residents??

These are County Highways issues. All should become clearer at West Area Committee tonight….

    ST1:

I went back on the Fixmystreet website, and found my entry in the “stale reports” section. I posted an update stating that no work had been done, and the report is back in the current listings.

To be fair, some of the reports relating to loose manhole covers in Downhall Park Way have been fixed recently, so they are certainly selecting some of the reports to work on.

No action on the parking issue between the traffic lights and the park though….
