Is YOUR Road on the List?

The County Council website states that:

…..We are investing an additional ?11 million into repairing as many potholes as possible. We are committed to delivering frontline services and putting our customers first, which is why we are making this significant commitment to improving our road network.
The work will take place throughout the summer and finish in May 2013. During the summer months we will be repairing the outstanding potholes and from November onwards we will be treating some of the road network to ensure that fewer potholes develop in the future….
….In order to fix as many potholes as possible, we will be using a process called Jet Patcher which is a high pressure patching system. This allows repairs to be carried out quickly and reduces disruption to traffic. However, this system is not suitable for all potholes, so sometimes we will need to return to a road to repair a pothole with more traditional methods.

This is good news. But it’s a monster task… just look at the list of roads they have listed for repair in Rochford District. It just goes on and on and on…

  • We were astonished to see that Grange Gardens wasn’t included on this list – our colleague Chris Lumley raised this with County Highways months ago. However after a bit of discussion we’ve managed to get it added on to the list.

  • Just had a random look at the Essex County Council pages that list the roads accepted for repairs and the status of the repair, and noticed that so far not one road has been fully repaired. There are a large number of ‘partially completed’ repairs in the Chelmsford and Colchester areas (where it appears from the live map the Jet Patching vehicles are currently stationed). Does this mean that the Jet Patchers are not able to completely repair potholes?

  • Fountain Lane, Hockley is in a terrible state and has been for years depite regular heavy traffic and many complaints and yet is not even on the list. How about Council? Don’t we pay our dues down here?

  • I live in Rayleigh, and have raised an issue in relation to Hatfield Road, as the hole is so big, that the local buses have to full in and out of the holes, whcih then causes a vibration that rock all the houses around it.

All I keep getting is that its been assesed and its major, but it been passed to the contractors to fix, no time limit. Its a disgrace

  • What about Weir Gardens ,Roach Avenue I have complained many years ago to no avail, also been promised yellow line at the end of Hardwick Close by Mrs Mavis Webster 4yrs ago but this. Has not happened…
