We haven’t had any local wildlife photos here for a while. So it’s good to have these two pictures of a coal blue tit in Rayleigh , furnishing his nestbox this week with moss… Or is it furnishing her nest?
Click on the photos once or twice to enlarge.

Sid thats a blue tit .
Mr/Ms Matthews – yes, I know. I thonk Chris may have been attempting a joke – something to do with blue and yellow and a coalition … coal ition … coal tit …
I wasn’t attempting a joke then (the ‘coalition pun’ came later). Must have been delirious due to a stomach bug I had this week.
I mean, I know what a blue tit is, the first thing I actually remember reading as a child is the side of the “Swoop” wild bird food packet, circa 1964, with little pictures of a blue tit, blackbird etc.
Caused some embarassment soon after, doing my first school project aged six, about an imaginary family, when I was looking for an easy-to-spell surname for them…
Sorry must have been a little slow! Still i had a little(or greater) titter !Just a little aside had a nuthatch on our birdfeeder gave a great display for five minutes .
